Swami Omkarananda
Swami Omkarananda was born in a traditional vedic family. He learnt vedas at a very early age. In his early twenties, greatly inspired by the teachings of Sri Swami Vivekananda, he joined Ramakrishna Tapovanam at Tirupparaithurai and was given Sanyasa Deeksha by Sri Swami Chidbhavananda Maharaj on 4th May 1985 and was named as Sri Swami Omkarananda.
Between 1985 and 1987 Sri Swamiji toured all over Tamilnadu and conducted Antar Yogams and classes on spoken Sanskrit.
His quest for knowledge of Vedanta led him to Sri Swami Paramarthananda, disciple of Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswathi, under whose guidance he studied vedanta from 1987 to 1994.
On completion of his studies he founded the “Sri Swami Chidbhavananda Ashramam” on the banks of river Surabhi Saraswathi or Mullaiyarun at Theni and established the Vedanta Sasthra Prachara Trust to manage the Ashram. (Source: http://www.vedaneri.com/swamiji.htm)
